Set in a desktop-like visual space, «[…] craving for narrative» analyses and decomposes a famous scene from the film Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. This clip becomes the starting point for a reflection on obsession, nostalgia, rhythm, repetition, and media theories, and their exponential development over the Internet.
The Narrative of Victor Karloch is a Gothic Victorian horror short film that uses 30 inch tall rod puppets, traditional shadow puppetry (woodcuts designed by Eisner award winning graphic novel artist Gary Gianni), and rear projected elements to present the adventures of Victor Karloch, an alchemist, scholar and ghost hunter, as he battles the supernatural forces of the Unknown.
“A montage of still and moving images, mixing and alternating black people and white people, fantasy and reality, a presidential suite and a mother’s kitchen: a sensitive, poetic evocation in the manner of the film-maker’s Remembrance. Brilliantly colored and nostalgic, it comprises a magical transformation of painterly collage and still photographic sensibility into filmic time and space.” - Charles Boultenhouse
Jules Rosskam's against a trans narrative is a provocative and personal experimental documentary investigating dominant constructions of trans-masculine identity, gender, and the nature of community. Blending fiction, nonfiction, and experimental film genres, against a trans narrative employs a gender-busting combination of intimate diary footage, stylized dramatic scenes, spoken word performance, faux audition tapes, and roundtable interview footage to explore and initiate a dialogue between feminists, queers, and transfolk about the way we construct personal and historical narratives. Careful attention is paid to the ways generation, race, class, and culture impact our understandings of gender.
Chautauqua: An American Narrative is a one-hour documentary that looks at the contemporary aspects of Chautauqua, the utopian community that is in Chautauqua, New York. The program goes briefly into the history of Chautauqua, the national Chautauqua Movement of the early 19th century, and the historic and cultural importance that Chautauqua once held. But most of the program focuses on what goes on at Chautauqua today, including a tremendous artistic community, spiritual aspects, recreation and the daily dose of educational/intellectual lectures attend by thousands of people in a large semi-outdoor amphitheater. Voices heard in the program include David McCollough, Sandra Day O'Conner, E.J. Dionne, and many others.
If the intersection of desire and authority is phallus, the intersection of absence and vigilance is vagina. The tape’s laconic title (I saw, I conquered—but I didn’t come) encodes its vaginal pretense. In effect, Vidi Vici is a male artist exploring a vaginal posture. By interleafing different gender characterizations with various narrative impulses, it circumvents linearity while emptying our gaze into the interstices between action and incapacity. —Tony Conrad

“Hi, what are you up to?” On the video chat, Periscope, the exchange of images can be enriched by text messages and/or a flow of hearts allowing people who are streaming their video live to see strangers’ comments on their appearance or their conversations. Entirely constructed using these exchanges, National Narrative probes the exhibitionist norm of the enhanced selfie. Spontaneous poetry (“Your eyes they wanna drive me bananas”), a burlesque scene between two loafers who are unable to make out which of them is receiving mocking comments as they confuse left and right on the screen… Far from sparking derision, this montage instead points up the users’ self-derision and the paradoxical coyness of a space where people claim to show everything, from breasts to vomit. How does the immediacy of a chat between strangers integrate into its playful and intentionally exaggerated quotidian, the incommensurable horror when a tragic event intervenes?
U.C. 0097, one year after the opening of "Laplace's Box". Despite the revelation of the Universal Century Charter that acknowledges the existence and rights of Newtypes, the framework of the world has not been greatly altered. The conflict later dubbed the "Laplace Incident" is thought to have ended with the downfall of the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves. In its final battle, two full psycho-frame mobile suits displayed power beyond human understanding. The white unicorn and the black lion were sealed away to remove this danger from people's consciousness, and they should now be completely forgotten. However, the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03, which disappeared two years earlier, is now about to show itself in the Earth Sphere once more. A golden phoenix… named Phenex.

To make a film about a poet, it is necessary to move away from all cinematographic purpose, all technical language, all aestheticizing intention; we should just think like him, in terms of image and animism, of arrow and spell. The film in question will then be a tree and every facet of his work a branch, the trunk his life. Thus this incipient metaphor will evolve in the form of the film, the body of the image is henceforth encircled by the cortex of sound, whose independent relief segregates its own layers of meaning, the cavities through which the silence of an army of ants searches for its center.
Jost writes: “13 Fragments is a portrait of a young woman, 1968, evasive of political responsibilities, done in an austere, clean but very low-budget manner."

U.C. 0097. The year the Laplace’s Box was opened. Despite the revelation of the original charter for the Universal Century, which acknowledges the existence of Newtypes and their rights, the world remains largely unchanged. After the destruction of the Neo Zeon remnant force known as the Sleeves, the event that has come to be known as the “Laplace Incident” seems to have drawn to a close. In the final battle, two Full Psycho Frame mobile suits displayed power beyond human imagination. The menace of the White Unicorn and the Black Lion were sealed away from public consciousness, and were consigned to be forgotten by history. But now sightings of the RX-0 Unicorn 03, long thought lost two years ago, are being reported. Its name is Phenex, an immortal golden bird.

Unchained Memories is a 2003 documentary film about the stories of former slaves interviewed during the 1930s as part of the Federal Writers' Project. This HBO film interpretation directed by Ed Bell and Thomas Lennon is a compilation of slave narratives, narrated by actors, emulating the original conversation with the interviewer. The slave narratives may be the most accurate in terms of the everyday activities of the enslaved, serving as personal memoirs of more than two thousand former slaves. The documentary depicts the emotions of the slaves and what they endured. The "Master" had the opportunity to sell, trade, or kill the enslaved, for retribution should one slave not obey.
