Welcome, Friends!

You may have noticed we had a short website outage yesterday afternoon. It was due to my sister’s tweet and Facebook note that ended up sending massive traffic here and overwhelming the server temporarily. We beefed up everything and got it up and running as fast as we could. “Palin Power” packs quite a punch!

Thank you for sharing and sending the Letter to the Editor of Field & Stream article around the internet and for contacting F&S directly yourselves. If I receive a response, I’ll let you know. Hopefully, F&S will take their readers’ concerns into consideration.

Maybe they forgot what was reported in 2008 by the LA Times:

Field & Stream magazine has declared Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin among its many heroes and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger its biggest villain in 2008.
 
“For the first time in a century we had a candidate for executive office who understood real hunting and fishing,” F&S, in its December issue, said of Palin, who advanced through part of a March Madness-style bracket system past other “heroes,” including Kevin Costner (angler) and golfer Boo Weekley (hunter-angler).

Well, the Iron Dog race is upon us! The Trail Class is on their way and the Pro Class rolls out tomorrow. You can learn more about the race and find out all the different ways to follow it at the official website HERE.

    Isn’t it interesting ( AND FUN!) that the Palin/Heath names can generate so much firepower Chuck?!! You might as well get used to the idea that when people named Palin/Heath speak, folks listen. Sure, some of the response is negative, but you’ve got to smile about it, cause you KNOW you live in their heads! God is Just, and Good! (Not to mention that HE has a great sense of humor too!) VG

    Here’s the message I’ve sent Field and Stream’s editors and publishers. Shame on them.

    ” I grew up hunting and fishing and camping with my
    Dad. I’ve always considered Field and Stream Magazine a treat to read, and it
    was a name I looked up to and trusted. That has now changed.

    I can’t begin to tell you how offensive I find the
    story you’ve published about Governor Palin, her family and friends.

    As you regard them, you obviously must regard me.
    Your insults to them are insults to me.

    Absent a complete and sincere retraction and
    apology, I’ll henceforth be avoiding Field and Stream magazine and its
    advertisers.

    My advice to you is to begin by publishing Chuck
    Heath, Jr.’s letter to you spelling out the gross inaccuracy of the hit piece in
    question. Then do the right thing and apologize to everyone, including Americans
    like me. The tone and nature of the thing was rude and unkind. Its inaccuracies
    were utterly astonishing.

    Online or in print, it’s truly a sad day for
    America when a venerable publication icon like Field and Stream sinks to such a
    level. It was as stunning a display of invidious
    trash as I’ve ever read. It was wrong on soooo many levels.”
